Teesside University is a public University with its main campus in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire in the North East of England. 

Overview:

We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete a Software Developer - Level 4 Apprenticeship. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create and maintainable logical code and deploy code into the relevant environment
  • Test code and analyse results to correct errors found using unit testing
  • Apply structured techniques to problem solving, debug code and understand the structure of programmes in order to identify and resolve issues
  • Conduct a range of test types, such as Integration, System, User Acceptance, Non-Functional, Performance and Security testing
  • Create simple software designs to effectively communicate understanding of the program
  • Follow software designs and functional or technical specifications, testing frameworks and methodologies
  • Follow company, team or client approaches to continuous integration, version and source control
  • Communicate software solutions and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Interpret and implement a given design whist remaining compliant with security and maintainability requirements

Entry requirements:

  • 5 GCSE’s [especially English, Mathematics and a science or technology subject]
  • Other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Or an aptitude test with a focus on IT skills

You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship in a similar subject. 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

£19,578 per annum.

Future prospects: 

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.
