Trimming Shop is one of the UK's biggest suppliers of importers and distributors, as well as wholesalers of chair covers, spandex chair covers, organza sashes, sashes, tablecloths and table runners, along with arts and crafts. 

Overview: 

We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete a Data Analyst Level 4 Apprenticeship. 

Main responsibilities: 

  • Interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Document and report the results of data analysis activities making recommendations to improve business
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Conducting full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design
  • Develop analysis and reporting capabilities
  • Monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements 

Desirable skills, qualities and experience:

  • Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst 
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL etc.), programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets (Excel, , SAS etc.)
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • A methodical, step-by-step approach to analysing and gaining insight
  • Attention to detail
  • Business skills like effective communication, teamwork and task/time management
  • To be able to present data in various forms for a technical and non-technical audience
  • Experience with programming languages such as: SQL, Oracle and Python

Entry requirements:

Standard entry: 

  • Level 3 qualification (apprenticeship/A-levels/BTEC, etc.) 
  • OR equivalent work experience (typically two years in a relevant role) 

Plus: 

  • 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above 
  • Experience with using Excel and Microsoft products (or similar)

Salary: 

£18,000 - £20,000 per annum.
