Overview:

From regulating Consumer Credit to driving action on Foreign Exchange manipulation or helping strengthen accountability in the banking sector, the FCA is working with the industry to protect consumers, ensure the integrity of the UK financial system and promote fair and effective competition. 

Our remit has expanded significantly since our creation in 2013, with the number of firms we regulate growing from 23,000 to over 51,000. We oversee conduct across the full span of the financial sector from global investment banks to high street payday lenders, and are now preparing to implement a new strategy that will sharpen our focus to face the regulatory challenges ahead.

Job description: 

We are seeking a Digital and Technology Specialist Degree Level 7 Apprentice to join within the Innovation Division, responsible for encouraging innovation in the interest of consumers, and our work helps to develop our rules and guidance to meet the needs of a fast-paced technological change. 

We are recruiting for a Data Analytics specialist-apprenticeship level position, who will provide support to the department data strategy and digital solutions. There will also be opportunities to shape our analysis to drive operational efficiencies. On the job coaching will be provided to the candidate so that they can perform comfortably in the role, whilst being given the opportunity to apply learning from their degree programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, clean, merge and process structured/unstructured data from internal and external sources
  • Produce data engineering and quality check. Input/drive behavioural/operational/system changes to improve data quality and operational efficiency
  • Provide technical support of the delivery of the Data Strategy, using data analytics and data science skills to produce Fintech market insights and impact assessment on Innovation work. Sharing real-time intelligence with the department and the wider FCA
  • Update and maintain Innovation MI dashboards and draw insights to feed into data requests
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders on the insights generated from Innovation work and the impact assessment on the value bring to the industry
  • Explore and support the delivery of advanced analytics projects to support Innovation objectives

Entry requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 A Levels at grade C (including one in a numerical subject e.g. Maths, Economics, Finance)
  • As well as 5 GCSE's at grade C including Maths and English alongside any other relevant qualifications and work experience. 
  • Or relevant qualifications and/or work experience will be considered on an individual basis. 
  • Candidates with a University degree in an appropriate Computing, Technology or Engineering discipline (minimum 2:2 degree achieved) will also be considered

Learners must not hold a qualification in the same subject at the same or higher level.

End Point Assessment:

You must be able to evidence level 2 English and Maths before you start your End Point Assessment. You may still be begin the programme without these but must obtain the qualifications in order to begin the EPA.

Future prospects

Apprentices who successfully complete their professional qualification and apprenticeship programme will be considered for a permanent role within the FCA.
