Overview: 
We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 
The Commercial Compliance Specialist acts as a bridge between the Compliance, Data Protection, and Information Security functions and the Commercial functions (Marketing, Sales, Bids and Business support), ensuring smooth client onboarding and ongoing relationship management. 

This role focuses on completing client due diligence forms, promptly responding to client queries on compliance, data protection, and security matters, and creating self-service content for the commercial team to streamline due diligence processes. 

It requires knowledge of data security best practices and regulatory frameworks to effectively communicate the company’s robust data handling procedures and safeguards.

Key Responsibilities
Client Due Diligence:

  • Accurately and thoroughly complete client due diligence forms, showcasing the company’s adherence to regulatory requirements (FCA, ICO, GDPR, Contract regulations) and internal controls, with particular emphasis on data protection and information security aspects.
  • Articulate the company’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance framework in a client-friendly manner, highlighting data protection and security measures.

Client Support:

  • Respond promptly and comprehensively to client requests for information on data protection practices, data security measures, and compliance procedures.
  • Conduct DPIAs (Data Protection Impact Assessments) and product data mapping exercises, demonstrating a strong understanding of data flows and potential risks.

Tender Support:

  • Work closely with the bid team to complete compliance, data protection, and especially security sections of tenders for framework agreements.
  • Ensure accurate and compelling representation of the company’s capabilities and commitment to data protection and information security.

Supplier Assessments:

  • Provide support in assessing the data protection and information security practices of potential and existing suppliers who support the business in fulfilling its contractual obligations to clients and internal stakeholders.

What we are looking for: 
Essential:

  • Professional compliance or data protection certification (e.g., ICA Diploma in Compliance, CIPP/E, CISSP).
  • Proven experience in a compliance, data protection, or information security role, demonstrating a strong understanding of data protection principles and security best practices.
  • Strong understanding of FCA, ICO, GDPR, and other relevant regulations, particularly those relating to data protection and information security.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex compliance, data protection, and security concepts into clear, concise language.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.  
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning and staying abreast of evolving data protection and information security regulations and best practices.

Entry requirements:

  • An A-Level in ICT
  • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
  • OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
