IT Hardware Technician:

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble computer systems, including desktops, workstations, and servers, based on provided configurations and specifications.
  • Install hardware components such as CPUs, RAM, storage drives, graphics cards, and motherboards.
  • Connect and organise cables neatly within the systems to optimise airflow and aesthetics.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure all assembled systems meet the company's standards and customer requirements.
  • Carry out thorough testing to ensure proper functionality and performance as well as troubleshoot and diagnose any issues that may arise and resolve them promptly.
  • Update firmware and BIOS to ensure the hardware is running at optimal performance and security levels.
  • Perform operating system installations, updates, and configurations.
  • Maintain accurate records of the assembly and refurbishment process, including any modifications made and issues encountered.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience assembling computer systems or a similar role in the IT hardware industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of computer components and their compatibility, including CPUs, RAM, motherboards, storage devices, and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with assembly tools and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and provide support to colleagues.
  • A proactive approach to work and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • A passion for technology and a desire to stay updated with the latest industry trends.

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
