Itchen Sixth Form College is a 110 year old state-inspected and state-funded college. We specialise in preparing 16-19 year olds for university study.

As an IT Support Apprentice at Itchen Sixth Form College, you will embark on a comprehensive learning journey to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in IT support. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting, technical problem solving, and customer service.

Key Duties:

1st Line Support:

  • Provide 1st line technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and networks.
  • Respond to helpdesk cases & service requests in a friendly, professional & efficient manner.
  • Gain proficiency in diagnosing and resolving network connectivity issues.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication while assisting end-users with technical concerns.
  • Install, configure, and update software applications.

  • Excellent problem solving & 
    communication skills.
  • Eagerness & enthusiasm to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Customer service-orientated mind set.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and able to balance multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workloads.
  • Ability work both independently and as a part of a team

No technical skills are essential, as this is an apprenticeship, so you will be learning and developing technical skills as a part of your journey.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A strong interest in pursuing a career in IT support.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, software and networking concepts

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)

Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
