Hertsmere Borough Council is responsible for providing services including benefits, car parking, community safety, elections, environmental health, housing needs, leisure and parks, licensing, planning, street cleaning and waste collections. We have a busy in-house IT department providing a comprehensive range of services to all of our departments. 

Overview: 
We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice.

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete an IT systems and networking - Azure Cloud Support Specialist - Level 3 Apprenticeship. 

Salary: £16,789 per annum.

Main responsibilities:
Working within this role you will be required to provide technical and service support to IT clients, using the ITIL principles of service operation, including:

  • Incident management 
  • Problem solving 
  • Assisting in maintaining the IT knowledge base 
  • Dealing with service requests from clients 

You will need to be able to provide excellent customer service and must be able to plan and prioritise to meet deadlines. 

You will also provide technical and service support to IDS clients, using the ITIL principles of Service Operation.

This includes:
Incident Management:

  • The Objective of Incident Management is the restoration of normal service as soon as possible with minimal disruption to the client and the business.
  • To be responsible for the resolution of incidents from detection and recording of an incident on the IS Service Desk through to resolution and closure.

To Administrate the IDS Service Desk following the procedures set up and maintained by the IDS Service Desk Team Leader.
This includes:

  • Logging calls
  • Offering solutions by telephone or remotely where possible

To provide administrative support for the IDS section.
This includes:

  • Recording and distributing the daily post
  • Receiving and unpacking deliveries, and recording the necessary details for the inventory filing

What we are looking for:
Desirable skills:

  • Able to effectively liaise with customers, colleagues, outside bodies and Councillors, in writing, by telephone and face to face.
  • Strives to produce written work of a high quality with a good attention to detail.
  • Able to use all Microsoft Office systems to a good standard.
  • Able to quickly grasp the use of specialised computer packages.

Personal qualities:

  • Able to build effective, supportive working relationships.
  • Demonstrates a flexible approach to work.
  • Contributes positively within a team environment.
  • Able to self-motivate and work with limited day to day supervision.

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
