Overview:

FDS is a wholly owned subsidiary of DXC Technology providing a vast range of services to DXC’s customers in 9 European countries. 

FDS specialises in identifying the customer’s specific needs and creating a cost-effective robust solution to meet their requirements, ranging from field and fixed site delivery solutions through to technical services and application support.

The Role:

We are looking for an IT Apprentice to join our welcoming team of experts whilst gaining valuable on-the-job experience working on-site supporting one of our industry-leading clients. As an Apprentice with FDS you will be enrolled on to a 24-month L3 Azure Cloud Specialist Apprenticeship programme with the option of moving to higher level qualifications and a genuine opportunity of securing a permanent role within FDS or DXC upon its successful conclusion.

The successful candidate will be someone who can blend first rate customer service skills with hands on IT support.

In this role you will be working in partnership with a high-profile organisation that provides engineered systems and components for the automotive industry. In addition to supporting the onsite customer you will also provide remote support to the client’s satellite sites.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Comply with Company Procedures and Health & Safety Regulations
  • Respond to and update tickets via the Service Now ticketing system
  • There may be an occasional requirement to backfill/assist on other local sites
  • Be comfortable completing a certain amount of administration that includes updates in Service Now and AVS
  • Provides on-site field support to customers including installation, and servicing and repairing systems and equipment. Verifies and approves operational quality of system equipment.
  • Ensures issues are referred to the appropriate personnel/service areas for follow up, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Acts as a liaison with customers on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.

  • Quick learner with the ability to work on your own as well as part of a team

Desired skills and personal qualities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and personalities
  • Punctual, reliable and conscientious
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 11, and Microsoft Office 365
  • Helpful approach and the ability to display professionalism.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday between 8:00am - 6:00pm, 37.5 hrs per week. 

Salary: £12,000 rising to £21,000 over 2-years. 

Entry requirements:

Successful candidates must be willing to undergo security clearance prior to being accepted for the role. For this reason, we are only able to progress with applications from British nationals.

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English at grade 4/C or above
  • No previous BTEC of equivalent qualifications (Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship or in a similar subject)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
