We deliver these through our four main educational divisions.

Overview: 

When you join us as an apprentice, you will be working as part of the IT Team and reporting to the Network and IT Systems Manager.

The IT Apprentice will provide first line support to all staff, teachers, students and visitors supporting both Windows PC’s/laptops and Apple machines as well as interactive whiteboards, printers and other audio visual equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to teachers, administrative staff and students 
  • Installation and support of approved software including Corporate Applications 
  • Assist in set-up and maintenance of audio and visual equipment, including whiteboards, televisions, audio systems and projectors across the sites 
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of wired and wireless networks 
  • Install approved software and maintain the IT inventory 
  • Advise the IT Support Manager on technical issues 
  • Working with the IT Support Manager in the rollout of IT Project work 

Work Conditions:

  • Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time 
  • Substantial amount of work involving visual display units 
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals 
  • Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

 Some Professional experience:

  • Familiarity with Enterprise level hardware (PCs, Macs, printers, webcams, routers, switches, cabling) 
  • Experience of Microsoft Operating systems (Windows 10/11) in a networked corporate environment 
  • Familiarity with common off the shelf commercial software (Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat) 

Personal attributes:

  • Energy, patience and empathy are essential, along with a good work ethic and dependability 
  • You will be amiable, and approachable, with an authoritative yet friendly demeanour 
  • The ability to use your initiative, be pro-active, multitask and prioritise, along with a good attitude towards team work is vital 

Desirable attributes include:

  • Demonstrate a methodical and organised approach to data security 
  • To have a good understanding of a VLE environment 

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject 
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above) 
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary: 

£17,000 per annum. 

Working week: 

37.5hrs a week.
