QA Ltd have exclusively teamed up with a family run IT business on the outskirts of Huddersfield, Scorpio IT. Established over 20 years ago, they have a long-lasting client base whom trust them with their IT estate. Now is a fantastic time to grow the Technical IT team and offer an apprentice the opportunity to gain hands on IT experience and earn a long term contract. Scorpio IT provide IT Support to a variety of different businesses, managing the (security/ networks/maintenance/and as always, high-quality care is paramount.
What’s in it for you:
You will gain experience of acting as a first line support help desk technician, solving, raising and allocating tickets for customers on any IT related issue, using our online system, Kaseya and Team Viewer. Being the first point of contact, not only on the phone but occasionally face to face, dealing with computer maintenance, issues and problems.
You will be working in an enjoyable, varied environment, with a small team, enabling you to gain knowledge and skills from all areas of IT.

You will be responsible for:
- Providing basic technical support and other IT-Related services, recording and monitoring incidents on Kaseya. Wherever possible presenting proposed solutions to the clients, explain the industry jargon in a clear, confident, concise manner or escalating cases which require more experienced support
- Developing a solid understanding of the basics of cyber security best practice.
- Following all our security procedures and keeping a vigilant watch for security issues
- Designing, building and testing hardware and software for inclusion into systems both at our workshop and on site
- Diagnosing hardware and software faults
- Operating in a professional manner representing the company with a very smart appearance
- Undertaking any other tasks as reasonably required by the line manager
You will need the following skills:
- Self -motivated team player who is flexible and willing to work extended hours should critical matters arise
- Display a willingness to learn and develop skill set
- Passionate about problem solving and using the latest IT equipment
- Well organised and able to prioritise workload, taking ownership of tasks
- Analytical and methodical in thinking
- An excellent communicator both written and verbal
- Basic understanding of PC set-up
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows 10
- Ability to work in a team
Entry requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:
37.5 hours per week, 9am – 5pm
