Job summary:

The Home Office is looking for individuals with an enquiring mind who care about the detail and have a passion for Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT). You do not need related qualifications or previous experience – we are particularly interested in your passion for a career in DDaT, your attitude and your potential.

Responsibilities:

As a Business Analyst Apprentice, you will be responsible for, and carry out, tasks to support the understanding and development of a product and/or service under direction and guidance from more senior Business Analysts.

As a Business Analyst Apprentice, you will start to gain the skills and experience and/or understanding in business analysis methods and techniques, utilise relevant tooling and deliver outputs to the required standard before progressing to undertake business analysis activities for which they are fully tasked and responsible.

Salary:

National: £25,750 - £27,650 per annum

London: £29,750 - £31,950 per annum

You will be a hard-working and enthusiastic individual with a flexible and collaborative approach to work.   • Have an understanding of business analysis methods and techniques.
  • A strong interest of working in a data profession.
  • Displaying proactivity and using your initiative to offer suggestions/solutions to issues and problems.
  • Undertaking self-development with drive and motivation and a willingness to learn and improve.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team and with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Displaying the ability to organise self and prioritise tasks, whilst maintaining good attention to detail.
  • Adapting effectively to changing priorities and persevering in challenging situations.
  • Being an effective written and verbal communicator with an ability to tailor messaging to changing audiences.
  • Analytical skills, with the ability to analyse and identify patterns in information, trends, emerging issues, data errors and anomalies.

  • Knowledge of data modelling, data cleansing and data enrichment skills also including knowledge of different data models and tools and understanding when they could be used.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis skills, and understanding the theoretical basis for applied practices.
  • Take responsibility for own work and deliver quality outputs.
  • Cope under pressure and is flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Confident working on computers and be able to use programmes such as Microsoft Office suite - Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel.

Desirable criteria:

  • Working within a team, ideally in a project or delivery environment.
  • Influencing and negotiation.
  • Using PowerPoint and/or Jira.
  • Quality assurance, validation and data linkage abilities, such as understanding basic data issues, the concept of data being fit for purpose and the context of the data.
  • Level 3 Qualification

To be eligible for the apprenticeship:

You should be committed to spend 20% of your working time on learning activity. The expectation is that apprentices are employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Need to ensure you meet Government requirement to complete an apprenticeship:

  • You must work at least 50% of the time in England.
  • Valid passport/birth certificate and NI number.
  • Not undertaking another apprenticeship or government funded qualification at the same time.
  • These roles are ideal for candidates who have ‘not studied to degree level and are looking to develop their knowledge and skills whilst in employment’.
  • Should have GCSE grade ‘C’ or above in Maths and English, or the equivalent, such as key skills or functional skills. If you do not or are unable to provide evidence of this (e.g., certificate), then you will be required to complete Level 2 functional skills during the apprenticeship programme with support.
  • You must not hold a qualification at or above Level 4 in a similar subject. You can hold a qualification in a related subject area at a lower level, e.g., Level 3 (or A-Level equivalent). You may also be ineligible if you have substantial experience in the role for which you are applying, as an apprenticeship must provide you with a significantly new skill set / skills uplift.
