The Apprentice position is an exciting role within the technical support department and will involve the successful applicant splitting their time between providing onsite support a variety of clients, and providing remote support from the One IT Support office. This will include project and installation work ranging from network installation of hardware and cabling, to access control and IP CCTV systems.

This role will be based in the North Shields area with visits to client sites within North Tyneside, should you drive your own vehicle mileage is covered at 45p per mile. During busy times and project work, extra hours may become available and you will be encouraged to be flexible regarding these hours.

You will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing technical issues both onsite and remotely
  • Management of IT infrastructure, including AV equipment
  • Installing, upgrading, and repairing hardware both onsite and in our fully equipped workshop
  • Assisting in project work
  • Responding to support requests via telephone and email in a professional and timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned by management

You will need the following skills:

  • Highly self-motivated and customer focussed, with excellent communication skills
  • Windows Desktop troubleshooting
  • Experience resolving Microsoft Office application issues
  • The right mindset to understand how a whole site connects together
  • Basic networking knowledge – understanding what a network is and core devices such as routers and switches

Additionally, the following experience would be beneficial:

  • Windows Server experience
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, primarily Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Advanced networking knowledge – IPv4, VLANs, NAT, Proxy etc
  • A full driving license as well as your own car / van
  • VDI Experience – Microsoft RDS

Entry requirements:

  • an A-Level in ICT
  • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT
  • OR an A-Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:
37.5 hours per week. A regular 9am – 5.30pm workday, rare occurrences being 8am – 4.30pm depending on client needs

Due to the nature of the role a full enhanced DBS will be carried out

Future prospects:
