First Line IT Support Apprentice

We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete a IT Cloud Network Specialist Level 3 Apprenticeship. 

Title / position – 1st Line IT Apprentice Support Technician 

Main purpose of position: 

To provide front line support and assist the IT department in ensuring that IT operations for end-users (staff and pupils) are running smoothly each day. Additionally, you will provide assistance when required for the AV Technician, and support audio-visual provision for school events, such as projection, microphone and loudspeaker systems. 


[Duties of the role will include, but not be restricted to:] 

  • Maintaining an optimally working user computing environment. 
  • Monitoring and processing the IT helpdesk system. 
  • Deploying and maintaining software to school PC's. 
  • Ensuring key hardware devices are available to end-users, e.g. PCs, Monitors, Printers and AV equipment. 
  • Assisting with / or taking responsibility for any other projects as required by the Director of IT or other members of the IT department. 

These responsibilities may be subject to review and amended by agreement to reflect future changes in the IT operational environment. 

What we are looking for / Personal specification:

Essential / Ideally:

  • Will be enthusiastic to work in a small but active team 
  • Will have a positive, cheerful attitude, with excellent interpersonal skills 
  • A willingness to take on responsibility and ensure results are to the satisfaction of all concerned 
  • Will be prepared to carry out some evening and weekend work, as may be required from time to time 
  • Wants to go far in IT 


Any of the following would be beneficial to a successful application: 

  • Experience working with Microsoft products in a school or enterprise-level environment 
  • Able to support Apple devices 
  • Web development experience 
  • Programming skills 
  • Microsoft SharePoint experience 
  • Administering Office 365 
  • Experience or interest in audio visual equipment 


An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful applicant. 

Entry requirements: 

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject 
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above) 
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week: 

8:15am – 5pm in term time, and 9am – 4pm in the holidays. 

38.75hrs a week.

Future prospects: 

90% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.
