Overview: 

We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. 

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete a Level 3 IT Azure Cloud Support Specialist Apprenticeship. 

The role of Apprentice Service Engineer is to work on our busy technical helpdesk and visit customer sites to resolve technical problems. 

The apprentice will develop skills in Microsoft 365, IT Support, Cloud Telephony, Data Cabling, helpdesk support and Cyber Security. 

This role will primarily be based at our offices in Newcastle with some site visits to assist senior staff. 

This Apprentice role reports directly to the helpdesk manager. 

Responsibilities / Duties include:

  • Assisting with helpdesk support calls to a resolution as directed by the helpdesk manager
  • Attending customer sites with experienced engineering team members
  • Assisting on projects and on-site installations with experienced team members
  • Responsible for personal company equipment including all tools
  • Responsible for the upkeep of a company vehicle
  • Responsible for the upkeep of a company laptop
  • Responsible for the upkeep of a company mobile telephone
  • Responsible for providing signed customer paperwork to the helpdesk manager
  • Assist in the management of customer support documentation
  • Answer telephone calls directly from customers
  • Attend customer meetings with senior staff
  • Ensure all PPE Equipment is used when required and kept in working order
  • Ensure all test equipment is in working order
  • Assist in keeping engineering and stock areas clean and tidy
  • Ensure support tickets are updated and closed in a timely manner
  • Assist on the helpdesk and develop remote working skills
  • Build and configure equipment ready for customer installations
  • Check and help to manage customer backups

Entry requirements: 

The entry requirements for this Azure Cloud Support Specialist programme are as follows: 

  • 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary: 

The starting salary for the role is £12,000 per annum. 

Benefits: 

The role provides 28 days holiday per annum including bank holidays. The Unite Group also offers all employees one additional days leave on your birthday.

Future prospects:

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.
