This is a tier 1 global automotive supplier for the Global Security Office, an automotive industry where customers are focusing on the production of electric, autonomous, and connected vehicles. The cyber security threat is also increasing and consequently the need to adhere to cyber security regulations and standards has never been so important for the automotive industry.
Overview:
An exciting opportunity is now available in the automotive industry, where customers are focusing on the production of electric, autonomous, and connected vehicles.
Primary responsibilities include:
- The Cyber Security Apprentice would work in the GKN Automotive GSO Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) function and receive time and support to complete the Level 6 cyber security degree apprenticeship as part of the role.
- The role entails working with the business to apply fundamental security risk management, treatment, and compliance principles in line with GSO security policy and procedures and industry standards.
- The candidate would be given the opportunity to work within the GRC function in areas of risk management, internal audit, ISMS compliance, IS training and awareness, and supply chain assurance.
- There is also opportunity to work with personnel and physical security SMEs and Security Operations and Architecture SMEs.
Desirable skills & qualities:
- The candidate is expected to have knowledge and experience of GRC activities including risk management. They are also expected to have a strong technical knowledge and experience as a foundation.
- The candidate must be a self-starter and have excellent communication skills as they are expected to present to various stakeholders and work with the training and awareness lead to deliver training across the globe. Some international travel is also required.
- An excellent awareness of IT security technology, and best practice
- An understanding of networks and technical systems including cloud technology
- Knowledge / experience in security incident management and forensics processes
- Knowledge / experience in security vulnerability and patch management and pen testing
- Knowledge / experience in conducting security risk assessments
- Knowledge / experience in the deployment of technical controls and risk mitigation
- Demonstrable evidence of self-learning outside of studies, and efforts to advance technical skills
- Demonstrate capacity for innovative thinking and strong problem solving
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a variety of people
- Display evidence of working in teams and leadership
Essential:
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
- Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in a cyber security related role.
Entry requirements:
- 120 UCAS points through A-levels or equivalent
- In order to attempt the EPA apprentices must have achieved GCSE Maths and English at Grade C – you may still enter the programme but will need to evidence Level 2 Maths and English qualification before starting the gateway and EPA
Non-standard entry requirements
Applicants who can in other ways demonstrate their ability to benefit from the programme, in particular mature students without formal qualifications, will always be considered and will be invited to contact the Programme Leader to discuss their application. The University welcomes applications from students studying qualifications from different qualification types – for example A level and a BTEC qualification in combination, and if you are made an offer you will be asked to achieve UCAS Tariff points from all of the qualifications you are studying at level 3.
A good GCSE profile is expected including English Language and Mathematics at minimum grade C (or a University recognised equivalent). Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths must achieve this prior to taking the end-point assessment. If you have studied for a new GCSE for which you have achieved a numerical grade then you will be required to achieve a minimum grade 4.
Informal Interviews
Informal interviews will be held where
- The suitability of a candidate is in doubt and further evidence is sought.
- The candidate presents an unusual set of qualifications taken or pending, and an appropriate conditional offer needs to be determined.
- Candidates may need advice on the appropriateness of the programme.
Applicants invited for an informal interview will always be informed of its purpose.
End Point Assessment
You must be able to evidence level 2 English and Maths before you start your End Point Assessment. You may still be begin the programme without these but must obtain the qualifications in order to begin the EPA.
Working week:
37 hours per week (Monday - Friday). Working times to be confirmed upon interview.
Salary:
£25,000 per annum.
Future prospects:
On completion of the apprenticeship, the individual could secure a full-time position with the organisation.
