Illuminet Solutions are looking for an apprentice to produce scalable software solutions. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment.

What’s in it for you:

As a Graduate Apprentice Full Stack Developer, you will be trained in both front-end and back-end coding languages, development frameworks, third-party libraries and given the opportunities to work on AI, Machine Learning and XR projects. You will become experienced with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices and how to produce great products working in this way in real world situations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Working with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions
  • Writing code to create client-side and server-side components
  • Building the front-end of applications through appealing visual design
  • Building native mobile apps
  • Opportunity to lead the design and build of a product(s)
  • Developing and managing well-functioning databases and applications
  • Integrating AI endpoints into applications
  • Writing effective APIs
  • Testing software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
  • Troubleshooting, debugging and upgrading software
  • Creating security and data protection settings
  • Building features and applications with a mobile responsive design
  • Writing technical documentation
  • Working with data scientists and analysts to improve software

You will need the following skills:

  • A passion for software, beyond your academic work.
  • Demonstrating mathematical ability, syntactical appreciation, attention to detail, ability to problem solve by breaking down larger problems into smaller ones.
  • Proficiency in at least one development language.
  • Show attention to detail, appreciation of standards, clean coding practices and good design principles.
  • Aptitude to become a Full Stack Developer
  • Understand the challenges of developing web, desktop and mobile applications
  • Demonstrate good communication and teamwork
  • Organizational skills
  • An analytical mind
  • A knowledge and understanding you wish to further grow and expand 
  • Team player

  • A desire to learn, develop and progress

Experience with the following would be beneficial:

  • Front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery)
  • Back End languages (e.g. C#, Java, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js)
  • Databases or Database concepts (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design
  • Data science
  • Object Orientated programming

Entry requirements:

  • Honours degree (2:2 or above) in an appropriate Computing, Technology or Engineering discipline
  • In order to attempt the EPA apprentices must have achieved GCSE Maths and English at Grade C – you may still enter the programme but will need to evidence Level 2 Maths and English qualification before starting the gateway and EPA

Non-standard entry

  • Relevant qualifications and/or work experience will be taken into consideration where the applicant has the judged potential to benefit from the programme. Requests will be considered on an individual basis where appropriate.

Informal Interviews
Informal interviews will be held where

  • The suitability of a candidate is in doubt and further evidence is sought.
  • The candidate presents an unusual set of qualifications taken or pending, and an appropriate conditional offer needs to be determined.
  • Candidates may need advice on the appropriateness of the programme.

Applicants invited for an informal interview will always be informed of its purpose.

End Point Assessment

You must be able to evidence level 2 English and Maths before you start your End Point Assessment. You may still be begin the programme without these but must obtain the qualifications in order to begin the EPA.

Working week:

37.5 hours per week

Salary: 

£25,000 - £30,000 per annum (Dependent on knowledge and experience)

Future prospects:

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.
