Overview:

Nettitude is looking for an apprentice who has a problem-solving mindset, with the ability to be tenacious and go above and beyond to find solutions. Ideally you would have had exposure to some scripting and coding languages and be able to read and understand typical coding languages such as C#, Python and C++, complimented with knowledge of secure coding practises and CI/CD pipelines.

The right candidate should be a highly motivated individual, who can work autonomously as well as working as part of team. You will be expected to use all opportunities to help rapidly improve your skillset, both technically and for softer skills working towards attaining entry level to mid-level industry certification across DevOps and Secure Coding.

Location:

This role is based in UK. Nettitude has a flexible remote working policy allowing employees to have a flexible hybrid working environment with regular remote working.

The role:

You will be given full support and special focus from more senior staff – which will allow you to progress, but emphasis is also placed on self-study and a desire to learn. Finally, you must be passionate about offensive coding and technology and able to learn and understand new security solutions rapidly. On top of this, you will be part of Nettitude’s Red Team, where you will be able to put your coding and DevOps skills to the test. This team performs adversary simulation, targeting global organisations using cutting edge malware and attack methodologies. 

You will be at the core of the team building infrastructure and tooling including streamlining provisioning of attack infrastructure, building offensive DevOps pipelines, and working on Command & Control (C2) frameworks.

Key responsibilities:

What you’ll be doing in your role:

  • Learning to fully understand the global cyber threat landscape, identify risks and produce appropriate mitigation insight
  • Train on how to use various analytical techniques to assess and interpret intelligence data
  • Collaborating with the team and wider Nettitude business to understand and fulfil collection requirements
  • Developing skills for the validation of intelligence - evaluating the reliability of sources and credibility of information
  • Learning how to deliver information in formal reports or as presentations and desk-level briefings to internal and external clients
  • Maintaining threat actor profiles - geographic, sector and methodologies
  • Learn how to make predictions about future threat actor activities based on what is already known
  • Create threat intelligence reports that communicate the results of analysis
  • Be responsible for maintaining continued professional development

What we are looking for:

A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A passion for learning, problem solving and anything tech related
  • A working knowledge of DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices and paradigms
  • Development skills, particularly in Python3

Any of the below are also advantageous:

  • Having a good understanding of code design and development principles
  • Having contributed to software projects, potentially including their own small projects
  • Experience with any of the following: Jenkins, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, C#
  • Experience of or an understanding of Information Security

Entry requirements:

The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:

  • Level 3 Software apprenticeship
  • OR A-Level in a STEM subject (in Technology and Maths fields only) and successful completion of our Aptitude Test
  • OR BTEC Diploma in IT and successful completion of our Aptitude Test
  • OR two years' experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our Aptitude Test

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Candidates must:

  • Be 18 or over before the start data and have the right to live and work in England
  • Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
  • Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the program
  • Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending June 2022 or later

Future prospects:

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programmes offer on-going development tracks.
