Apprentice Software Developer: 

So, you want to be a software developer? We have engaged with the market leader in tech and digital apprenticeships to provide a brilliant opportunity for 2 software developers to earn whilst you learn. 

The course is 18 months in total and you'll be working towards a level 4 in software development. You'll undergo a curriculum developed in partnership with some of the best in the sector to provide an in-depth learner journey to provide the skills needed to be successful as a software developer. 

With the perfect blend of live classroom, access to our world class learner platform and on the job training you'll soon be working on exciting projects and getting stuck in. 

Overview: 

We have an exciting technical vision and product roadmap which needs your help to build, deploy and expand. You will be working closely with our technical leadership, including software architects, and designers. A key focus will be delivering integration with group business systems where needed. 

As an apprentice Software Developer, you will play a key role in our engineering team. Your primary focus and main objective will be to support the development team in developing, testing, and integrating software (written in C#, ASP.NET, Vue.js, SQL and other computer languages) for whole range of projects. The work will provide both challenging and stimulating working environment for the right candidate, who’s passionate about writing and delivering efficient code using good Software Engineering practices and learning about our business.

In your role as an Apprentice Software Developer, you will:

Desired skills and Personal qualities: 

  • A passion and motivation for Software Engineering and creating high-quality and resilient software
  • Basic knowledge of C#/ASP.Net, SQL and other computer languages for writing efficient, reliable, and intuitive code
  • An understanding of front-end frameworks such as Vue.js would be advantageous
  • An understanding and appreciation for the practical use of API's. Working knowledge of API's would be a huge advantage
  • An engineering mind-set, with a curious and innovative yet structured approach to solving problems
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, especially Azure (although cloud concepts if not Azure would be acceptable) 

Entry requirements: 

  • Level 3 Software apprenticeship, or
  • A Level in a STEM subject (within the Technology and Maths fields only) and successful completion of our Aptitude Test, or
  • BTEC Diploma in IT and successful completion of our Aptitude Test, or
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience within the last 24 months or 18 months in the last 36 months in an IT role.

Specific roles that are acceptable are: 

  • IT Support roles e.g. Help Desk, First line
  • Software testing or any work that utilises basic coding
  • Any other technical job that uses IT equipment or software
  • Any data analytics or reporting related role 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. The learners would still be required to successfully pass the Aptitude Test at first attempt. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week: 

Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm,

40 hours per week.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
