We are a small school with big ambitions who work closely with students, parents and the local community. A new opportunity has arisen for an ICT Technician Apprentice to join the busy team at Islay High School.

You will provide comprehensive technician support services across the educational establishment. Supporting class teachers and pupils to ensure high quality learning and teaching you will be an integral part of our school.

What will I learn?

Undertaking identification of faults, testing and repair, general care, storage and cleaning of school resources and equipment
Constructing apparatus and ensuring the general security of data, files, materials, equipment and tools.
Servicing of work rooms, classrooms and laboratories as necessary, including cyclical maintenance of equipment and apparatus.
Carrying out the necessary tasks and procedures for the maintenance and monitoring of files, data, equipment, stock and safety relating to computers, printers, projectors, chemicals, fume cupboards, metalwork and woodworking machinery, etc.

What qualification or qualities are required?

You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement

• Strong interest in IT
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Organised and proactive Willingness to learn
• Good time keeping
• National 5 computing science or can demonstrate strong interest in technology
