Opportunity overview:

The apprenticeship programme combines training delivered at a training centre in Birmingham, with long periods in the workplace and work-based modules to embed the new skills.

The Role:

Datasystems are keen to recruit a pro-active Technical IT Apprentice with a mature attitude towards their work.

Main responsibilities:

You will be required to undertake a variety of tasks and gain all round experience within a technical environment, including:

  • Handling of customer support enquiries on the telephone and through email.
  • Working towards technical accreditations
  • Project Management and working within strict deadlines
  • Evaluating new technologies
  • Deployment of technical IT proposals, this could include Microsoft Deployments or Virtualisation proposals
  • Extensive use of Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Project and Outlook and other software packages
  • Administrative duties as necessary

The successful individuals will be trained and supported to make useful contributions in the following areas:

  • Customer Service, including telephone support, Customer liaison
  • Windows Network, Server & Workstation Administration
  • Maintaining IT equipment and systems
  • Windows networking fundamentals
  • Testing IT systems
  • Correspondence via email and conventional mail
  • Any other areas of technical competency required
  • In addition, they may be called upon to do other duties as demand occurs

We are looking for a bright, keen individual whom is willing and able to learn a wide range of skills.

Datasystems will provide additional training through a variety of methods online, on the job or classroom based where appropriate, over and above the externally provided training as part of the apprenticeship scheme.

Entry requirements:

You need to have 5 GCSE’s:

  • Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades D or above
  • 3x GCSE’s grade A-C in any other subject

You must not already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level, or higher level than this apprenticeship.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
