We are looking for two new and enthusiastic team members to provide a range of 1st and 2nd line support for our community of systems users.

As a member of the IT team, you will be based both within the team area and the central Helpdesk providing face to face and remote support to the full range of the university’s Digital services users. 

Part of a small and friendly team, you will be trained and supervised by a senior member of the IT team and the Helpdesk Manager to provide the following services:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support of desktop, mobile, AV and network technologies.
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support of software applications, systems and services.
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support of operating systems and software applications for students and staff.
  • Build, image and configure various PC and Mac hardware devices.
  • Provide the customer interface to IT via the Helpdesk, telephone and electronic communications.
  • Communicating with users – keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages.
  • Monitor the Helpdesk system for new incidents and service requests, processing based on priority and urgency.
  • Work with the Media Services team to provide technical support for internal & external events and specialist teaching facilities.
  • Escalate incidents which cannot be resolved to 3rd line support teams or external partners.
  • Provide user training.
  • Prepare training and process documentation.
  • Maintain a personal development programme as agreed with line manager.

 Additional Information:

  • Salary - £18,529 per annum
  • Future salary discussed on completion of the apprenticeship as this will be a fixed term contract
  • Monday-Thursday 9.00am until 5.00pm, Friday 9.00am until 4.30pm

  • Discussed on completion of the apprenticeship
