Escape Technology provides hardware, software, consultancy and technical support to computer graphics artists. Working with leading vendors like HP, NVIDIA, and Autodesk, Escape enhances and builds pipeline infrastructure for post-production houses, architects, game developers, automotive designers, and commercials agencies throughout the UK and Europe. 

Overview: 

As a DevOps Apprentice, you’ll be working closely with the Development team to maintain, update and implement pipeline tools and software used by Escapes customers. 

You’ll also be responsible for liaising with the support team and end users to monitor issues with the current toolset and software to track and resolve issues. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Writing and updating code for customers' in-house custom tools 
  • Investigating issues raised by the end-users and working with the team to create resolutions 
  • Updating documentation and using source control to make note of changes 
  • Troubleshooting issues with existing code and tools 

What we are looking for: 

Essential skills and experience: 

  • Ability to think logically and critically
  • Quick to understand new software
  • Coding experience - Python ideally, but others are advantageous
  • Good software design practices
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Able to communicate with end users in layman terms
  • Experience working with API’s
  • Linux/Unix CLI experience

Desirable skills and experience: 

  • GIT/Source control
  • Basic understanding of VFX Pipeline & Software (Shotgtrid, Nuke, Maya etc.)
  • Basic understanding of sysadmin processes and troubleshooting - Additional expectation
  • Agile software development Sprint/Standup
  • Software installation 

Entry requirements: 

The entry requirements for this programme are as follows: 

  • Level 3 Software apprenticeship 
  • OR A-Level in a STEM subject (in Technology and Maths fields only) and successful completion of our Aptitude Test 
  • OR BTEC Diploma in IT and successful completion of our Aptitude Test 
  • OR two years' experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our Aptitude Test 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary:

£18,000 per annum.

Working week: 

37.5 hours per week. 

Future prospects: 

There will be an opportunity upon successful completion of the apprenticeship to gain a full-time position.
