Overview: 

We are recruiting for IT Service Desk Apprenticeships where you will be working with our Information services team and apprenticeship provider to attain your Level 3 Information Communication Technician apprenticeship. 

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in an office environment whilst gaining valuable experience in a number of areas, which will include working with the IS team to provide excellent customer service and IT solutions to the wider organisation, working with and providing both software and hardware solutions, conducting testing, resolving incidents, working with computer systems, and writing documentation.

Job purpose:
To support the IS Service Desk by working in the IS Operations team and being responsible for providing users with remote and desk side technical support across all GMC facilities.

Main responsibilities:

  • Supporting the IS operations teams by setting up computer hardware and software, conducting testing, resolving incidents and completing service requests.
  • Handling sensitive information in line with corporate policies and procedures and taking personal responsibility for all information security matters in relation to the role.
  • Providing a high standard of customer service responding to requests for assistance from internal customers including: managing work in a Service Desk system, sending emails and Making phone calls.
  • Creating and completing clear, concise and accurate documentation including user guides for customers and technical and project documents for use by other IS staff.
  • Maintaining and building relationships with colleagues, internal customers and external suppliers.
  • Managing physical IT stock and software licences making sure all assets are appropriately tagged, recorded and tracked around the organisation including undertaking audits.
  • Suggesting improvements to help the teams to continuously improve.
  • Carrying out general administration including preparing and circulating documents, ordering equipment and arranging meetings.

And any other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Entry requirements:

The entry requirements for this Azure Cloud Support Specialist programme are as follows:

  • 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject 

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
