Are you a self-motivated person with a passion for learning? Would you like to work with a European leader in the fishing retail industry? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the friendly team at Glasgow Angling Centre as a digital administration apprentice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident self-starter to take their first step in their career with this administrative role. You will gain valuable experience and have the opportunity to work with many different departments while gaining an SVCQ Level 6 in Digital Applications. In this role you will have 3 days with the admin team and the 2 other days will be assisting and learning about other departments within the business.

The Glasgow Angling Centre has the largest range of angling equipment in Europe, with stores in Glasgow and Edinburgh alongside a successful online selling presence. Top class customer service and expert knowledge is at the heart of the business, although fishing knowledge is not a necessity in this role.

In this role, you will quickly pick up the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the role and will become a valued member of the team while completing an SCQF Level 6 Digital Applications Apprenticeship. This position is a fantastic environment to grow your skills and learn all about digital administration in a friendly, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Digital file management
  • Typing and preparing documents, letters and emails using Microsoft packages
  • Answering and handling incoming calls
  • Checking, emailing and filing invoices
  • Photocopying, scanning and uploading documents to databases as required
  • Monitoring and sorting incoming communications
  • Assisting with and utilising accounting software such as Sage
  • Assisting with digital record keeping and maintaining customer databases
  • Assisting with computerised stock systems
  • Supporting different departments throughout the company

Required Skills:

The Glasgow Angling Centre are looking for a motivated individual who is keen to learn and develop their administrative skills across the business. Full comprehensive training will be provided however being able to work on own initiative and basic numeracy skills would be beneficial. An interest in angling or fishing would be beneficial but certainly not a necessity.

Additional Information:

  • Salary £15,000 per annum
  • Salary reviews will take place
  • Monday-Friday 9am-5.30pm

Future Career Progression:

  • Potential for the right candidate to move to a permanent position within the business and further training.
