This is a school, based in the West Midlands. 

Overview: 

A great opportunity has arisen to become an IT Apprentice. 

Working as part of the IT team at the school and wider education trust, the role benefits from a fully funded work-based learning/apprenticeship training programme to gain a recognised L3 ICT qualification. 

The Position: 

The IT Apprentice role is to support the Regional IT Manager and Senior IT Technician with the day-to-day support and management of the ICT systems at the Academy. 

The role is also part of the wider Creative Education Academies Trust ICT support team and as such, some support may be required at the local CET primary academies and possibly other CET academies. The newly appointed IT Apprentice will report to the Senior IT Technician. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To ensure that incidents and requests for the Academy are prioritised accordingly and are documented within the ICT Helpdesk system.
  • To ensure that all incidents and requests for the Academy are logged appropriately on the ICT help desk system
  • Maintain regular communications with the appropriate staff until incident resolution.
  • Monitor progress of all incidents and requests for the Academy against Service Level targets and respond promptly to staff requests for updates or resolution as appropriate.
  • Escalate any incidents to the appropriate team as necessary and work with the IT Support team, 3rd party support providers, and other stakeholders to resolution.
  • Identify, resolve and/or document workarounds for desktop related problems.
  • Image, deploy and manage Desktops, Laptops and other endpoints and devices.
  • Provide high-quality technical support and advice to the Academy.
  • Test and install new software, ensuring licensing compliance.
  • To carry out routine maintenance and repair of computer and audio-visual equipment, including replacement of consumables and cleaning.
  • Maintain computer peripheral equipment such as scanners, printers, whiteboards, projectors, touchscreens and ensure that this hardware is tested and prepared for use when required.
  • Undertake other tasks as required by the Regional IT Manager, Senior IT Technician or the Academy Principal. 

Personal Specification: 

Desirable skills, personal qualities and experience: 

  • Knowledge of Interactive Whiteboards, touchscreens and associated software
  • Knowledge of Cloud based systems such as Office 365
  • Knowledge of Child Protection
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure during troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Ability to convey technical problems to non-technical staff
  • Confident in dealing with all levels of stakeholders
  • To be able to interpret and analyse information
  • High professional and personal standards in both work and conduct
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as a team member, but also having self-motivation when working independently
  • Strong personal drive and willingness to get things done
  • Good time management
  • Openness to learning, change and personal development 
  • Recent and relevant experience of working within an education or public sector environment

Entry requirements:

The entry requirements for this Azure Cloud Support Specialist programme are as follows:

  • 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:

37 per week,

8am – 4pm, Monday to Thursday, 8am – 3.30pm on Friday’s.

Salary: 

£10,000 - £12,000 per annum.

Future prospects: 

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programmes offer ongoing development tracks
